Ok, is it me or is he going in reverse here?
"Lately i have become accustomed to withdrawing my mind from the senses, and I have carefully taken note of the fact that vrey few things are truely perceieved regarding coporeal things, although a great many more things are known regrading human mind, and still many more things refering god."
I mean to me the first statement of mediations part 4 says it all. I really think now in this book from the discourse he will be focusing on more concrete things and that we shouldnt put as much stock in the mind. Am I wrong?
He then goes on to say it is so much easier to focus on the concrete things then things that are absract. Well duh! concrete things really don't need much brain power to know they exsist, unlike God.
I have a lot more on my section but I will have to continue later....

Yeah, you are right he is going in reverse there. After reading I think that he will be focusing on the concrete of things also. So I dont think you are wrong I had the same thought.
I have to agree with you and say that Descartes constantly fights and contradicts himself. I noticed this a lot in the Discourse. However, I have noticed it a little bit in the Meditations also.
I agree that he contradicts himself and i he did do it in the discourse too. He keeps going back and forth on what he is saying, so we should we believe? He is sharing his story, but which do we follow? It confuses me a little.
I think Descartes Is really just saying that it is impossible to trust your senses because our perceptions of real things are different from someone elses. I do understand however that this is really confusing. Descartes is constantly changing his mind on his ideas and always saying one thing and then the exact opposite.
I don't think he's concentrating more on concrete things more in this book though. It seems that he is just accepting somethings as true rather than proving them as he does in saying he knows that god could not deceive him as truth. God seems to really be the main focus of this section and a large part of the book
