Over all I think that Descates is saying that we are all humans and we all make errors. Than we must live with the errors we have made and change the ones we can and better are self when doing so. I also think that he is saying that all things should be questioned, I mean that you can just look at something once and know everything about it. Sometimes you have to look deeper at things. And most of all I think he is saying that if there is no God than how does everything exist? How can things work and do as they do?

I'm a little confused because at first I thought Descartes was saying that he should never make mistakes and he said he seems incapable of ever erring. But now after reading some posts it got me to thinking that maybe he was saying we can make mistakes...I'm really not sure anymore.

I have to say that I disagree with you. Descartes didn't want us to question things. He wanted us to not question any understandings we came to because of the fact that God must have wanted know these things and therefore there should be no doubt. He also said that he knows that his understandings have no error because it is God that made him come to those conclusions.

Ok I agree that things sometimes need a deeper look and can not just be looked at and have everything be known about them but it seems that Descartes doesn't want us to live with our errors because he wants all errors to be stripped from our minds and to start fresh. Furthermore, I question the part about without god then how can anything exist because no one knows if there truly is a god so perhaps were already existing without one and just don't know it and perhaps we would cease to exists with out him... no one knows.

After reading the comments I relize that Brooke has a good point. That he wants us to think about making ourselves better than what we are. By not looking at the errors we make but how to fix them and not make them again.
